David and Denise Lockett have been at Knockbain since 1973, working hard to establish the exclusive setting as an ideal place to stay. Knockbain House rests in the grounds of their large working mixed farm and offers wonderful views with interesting country walks. It all combines to provide peace, quiet and an enjoyable stay. Happily for our visitors, we’re also very close to a wide range of interesting places around the Highlands: Dingwall, Inverness, Strathpeffer, Castle Stuart, Loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield, and many more. From hillwalking and cycling, to viewing historical sites and taking in the fantastic scenery, you can do it all from the comfort of Knockbain House. We especially have some superb birdwatching opportunities. Thanks to Inverness Airport, Inverness Train Station, and Dingwall Train Station, the region also has excellent transport links with various plane, train and road connections, for example, to Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and further afield to London. Only one mile away we have our own airstrip, which, by arrangement, can be used by visiting guests. Our accommodation was completely rebuilt and extended in 2008, allowing us to give our guests a warm and comfortable welcome. We’ve had many satisfied visitors and they loved our location, so if you want a great place to stay, Knockbain is ideal

The Private House Stay's Guide
Ross and Cromarty
Ross and Cromarty is the area North of Inverness that includes the Black Isle. Although the Black Isle is most famous for its Dolphins and for birdwatching, there is a wonderful freshness and closeness to nature that the cromarty firth brings to the area with all the rivers and estuary run-offs. As you travel West on the A835, you come across the rogie falls and other wonderful natural landscape features on the road to Ullapool - greatly recommended for liesurely driving and stopping to admire the views.
