Ivybank Villa is an elegant, beautifully restored Georgian Villa with spectacular, panoramic views over Rothesay Bay to the scenic Cowal hills and Peninsula. Built and occupied by a 'Captain John Stuart' (namesake of Lord Bute, without the 'Crichton'!) in 1795, the house sits in over two acres of exotically planted gardens which are a haven for ?resident? wildlife such as deer, owls, bats, hedgehogs, fish and the full spectrum of wild birds. The house is central for all local amenities/activities, yet at the same time completely private with no passing pedestrians or cars. Relax in the beautifully restored period bedrooms, evocative of a bygone age with a choice of Full en-suite facilities or Private (exclusive) bathrooms. All five rooms have luxury 'King' size beds, with the rooms to the front having spectacular sea and mountain views, whilst those at the rear have views of the extensive gardens.

Rothesay and Cowal
Rothesay is the principle town on the Isle of Bute, which has a wonderful location dominating the entrance to the Clyde. From Bute a small ferry at Colintraive makes the hop over to the Cowal penninsula which like much of Argyll is stunningly beautiful. As part of a tour of Argyll there is much to recommend in taking the Portavadie to Tarbert ferry from off the Cowal penninsula to Kintyre and then travelling on to Islay.
