Battery House is a Victorian Villa built in about 1880, set in established garden grounds looking south over the river towards Edinburgh and the spectacular Forth Rail Bridge. Many original details have remained unchanged, including high ceilings, our curving staircase, stained glass and ornate plasterwork. Battery House is the family home of Russell and Laura Malcolm who offer a very warm welcome and you can enjoy the tranquility of staying by the river with the convenience of being so close to Edinburgh. The half-hourly local rail service to the centre of Edinburgh takes about 15 minutes. If you are going into town, the train can be far quicker than the car and without the parking problems. The village station is under 10 minutes walk from our door and as we are on the main East coast line, you have easy access to any part of the country. A fast bus link every 10 minutes or so from the Ferrytoll Park and Ride, one mile from our door also gets you into town in about 20 minutes. There are three bedrooms: One sunny spacious twin bedded room which can be converted to a king-sized double room with views south across the River Forth. There is a private bathroom adjacent with large shower; One en-suite family/double room with a double bed and bunk beds and stunning views across the ancient St James' Harbour to the River Forth and the hills of Fife. Both of these rooms have plenty of space for and additional folding bed or travel cot if required; We also have a further single bedroom.

The Private House Stay's Guide
Dunfermline Area
The Western part of Fife is not the most attractive area in Scotland being an area that used to be dominated by coal mining and other related industry but accommodation in the area in convenient for access to Edinburgh, the Knockhill race track is a draw for petrol-heads, the Palace and Abbey in Dunfermline is a major attraction and Aberdour is an attractive village to visit.
