The house was built around 1870 to high Victorian standards in the Burgh of Monifieth by James Fairweather Low, a local businessman who manufactured machinery for the jute makers. Ashlea Manor overlooks the Firth of Tay with its extensive views beyond to Fife. The Carnoustie Room is a double-bed room with king-size bed and en-suite shower room, both recently redecorated to a high standard. The Monifieth Room is a large double-bed room with a king-size sleigh bed, its own private bathroom and has beautiful views over the Tay. It can also easily take a third person with the addition of a single foldaway bed. It is currently being redecorated and will soon have its own luxury en-suite bathroom. The St. Andrews Room is a twin-bedded guest room with private bathroom. The Blue Room is a single-bed guest room with private bathroom. The Private House Stay's Guide
Dundee
Scotland's fourth largest city sits on two prominent hills, Balgay and the Law, overlooking the River Tay. There is a fantastic freshness to the air in Dundee that has transformed itself into a city with impressive high-tech industries that adds to the high quality houses that were built out along the Tay towards Broughty Ferry when the city was built on wealth that was earned from the Jute trade. One of Dundee's big attractions is Captain Scott's ship, the Discovery. Dundee also has a thriving arts scene and plenty of good shops, bars and restaurants.
