Dating from the early Victorian period Academy House was originally constructed as a school & school house. With the development of a new school in the 1880's the property was enlarged to house the rector and boarding pupils to the famous Fordyce Academy. Following the closure of the senior school in 1963 the property lay unused until 1977 when its present owners, Sandra and Richard Leith purchased it. Over the years the house has been upgraded to a very high standard combining old fashioned comfort with modern luxury. The Double Room is situated on the first floor. It has a large double bed, a small en-suite shower room, sitting area, colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hair dryer. The Super King / Twin Room is situated

on the first floor. This room has a private bathroom with shower, sitting area, colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hair dryer. This room can be converted into a family room using a folding bed. Free Wifi internet access is available.

Private House Stays

I have selected the properties on Private House Stays for their individuality that results from being privately owned. They take many forms from bed and breakfasts to small hotels but in each case it is the marque of the owner that sets it apart. This may be the charm of the furnishings, the wholesome home cooking or simply the atmosphere created by a charismatic host. I have inspected most of the establishments listed here and feel sure you will enjoy staying in them too.

Remember - booking through Private House Stays is free of charge.
