Archie Bouverie's guide:
Kintyre

The Kintyre Pennisula is often overlooked as a destination in Scotland now that Campbeltown is not the centre of export of whisky to America as it once was and also since the closing down of the ferry to Ireland, but there is a wild charm to the area that comes from the all pervasive proximity to the sea. The Atlantic side has great surfing beaches whereas the more sheltered East coast has the views over Arran and the 89 mile Kintyre Way coastal path that is much valued by the walking community. If a golfer do not miss the chance to play the magnificent golf course at Machrihanish.
