Archie Bouverie's guide:
Scotland

Visiting Scotland is much affected by the seasons. Edinburgh is worth visiting all year round because it holds a large concentration of major Scottish attractions, easily accessable on foot but otherwise Scotland's major draw is the beautiful scenery to be experienced outside of the major cities. However the beautiful Highlands and Islands do get bleaker in the winter months and inland areas get somewhat blighted by midges in the summer. Nevertheless Scotland has an unparrallelled combination of natural beauty, fascinating history and areas of idyllic peacefullness
