Archie Bouverie's guide:
Edinburgh & Lothians

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland but is a third of the population of Glasgow. Perversely the city has no motorway access to the South and since the local transport links are excellent the city and surrounding area can easily be accessed without a car, arriving by train or plane. The highest concentration of Scotland's major attractions are found within the city and surrounding area - Edinburgh being the top tourist destination in Britain outside of London because its attractions are mostly concentrated in a central area.

What is an Inn/Pub

The term simply implies that the establishment has a bar, usually open to non-residents as well. In remote locations especially there are plenty of Inns and Public Houses that have rooms available. Indeed they may be the only options for food and drink for miles around and can have very nice accommodation available. The only down-side to staying in an Inn or Pub is that you may not have complete quiet until after midnight and the bar has closed. Learn more about accommodation types
