Expand Search: All Plockton and Kyle Accommodation (2)In a sheltered Bay of Loch Carron on the North-western coastline stands the delightful village of Plockton. It is now a haven for artists and those seeking a romantic hideaway. The village is situated about 6 miles from Kyle of Lochalse and is the last stop before Kyle on the amazing railway line that crosses the grouse moors from Inverness. The train journey itself is a major highlight since the scenery that you gently pass through is breathtaking. Kyle itself is really just a railhead and used to be the main ferry port to Skye before the construction of the spectacular Skye Bridge.
Private small hotels can (though not as a rule!) be the best and most exclusive accommodation to be found anywhere in Britain and are often to be found in converted country houses in the most beautiful gardens or on mini-estates. They can usually be booked on a full-board or Bed and Breakfast basis but expect tariffs to be at the more expensive end of the market. Learn more about accommodation types
