Oban is the principle town in Argyll and is the gateway to the Inner Hebrides with ferries leaving regularly to Mull and the smaller islands. Although a relatively small place there are plentiful accommodation options and fish and chips to die for. Easier to access by train than by road, Oban\'s principle claim to fame is for regularly leading the high school league tables with children that file on and off the ferries in the morning and afternoon.
There is not much difference between a Guesthouse and a Bed and Breakfast other than an implied larger and more professionally run establishment (though this is not always the case!). A guesthouse is more likely to have staff, a 24-hour reception and better facilities for guests than a Bed and Breakfast. They may or may not offer lunch and dinner.
